Kernersville Counseling Center, PLLC is a private counseling agency passionate about providing outpatient mental health services to the Triad region. It is our mission to offer individualized, culturally and linguistically appropriate services. We work to counsel, educate and advocate for our clients. Kernersville Counseling Center provides an array of mental health services to individuals, children (as young as 2), and families in Forsyth and Guilford Counties. Our therapists utilize evidence-based practices that have been proven effective. Our mission is to work on your behalf to ensure your treatment is right for your unique situation. We believe in integrated behavioral health care, meaning that we will work with your primary care physician and other relevant healthcare providers in an effort to provide high quality, coordinated health care.

Tisha Bennett, Intake Specialist is originally from Ohio but earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Kentucky Christian College. Tisha is positive, well organized and loves interacting with people. When she isn't busy with administrative duties, she enjoys spending time with her beautiful family and repurposing furniture. 

Lori Thompson, MA, LPCA holds a Master’s degree in professional counseling from Liberty University.  She provides therapy to children, adolescents, adults, families and groups.  Lori works with individuals experiencing difficulties such as depression, anxiety, trauma, mood swings, relational conflict, grief and loss, career transitions, and more.  She affirms the importance of the client’s faith perspective and autonomy.  Lori offers a positive, non-judgmental and holistic approach to therapy implementing elements of Cognitive-Behavioral, Narrative and Family Systems theory with a Christian perspective.  Her passion for art fosters creativity, imagination and play within therapy.  Lori has special interest in helping new mothers and fathers adjust to parenthood and in mothers who may be at risk in developing Post-Partum Depression and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD).

Tracy Charles, MSW, LCSW, CCTP graduated with a Masters in Social Work with a clinical concentration in working with individuals and families from Appalachian State University.  Tracy has over 11 years experience serving children, adolescents, adults and families within non-profit mental health agencies, hospice and outpatient therapy.  Tracy desires to journey along with her clients to help them get in touch with their underlying needs, explore barriers to change, build on solutions, break negative patterns and develop coping skills to enable individuals to live in the fullness God would have for them. As a Christian Counselor, Tracy offers Christ-Centered care, utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities based on the needs of the individual(s) in collaboration with a Christian perspective and practices to help individuals meet their goals.  When working with children, Tracy utilizes expressive art and play therapy in conjunction with parent sessions.  Tracy has a passion to promote healing and wholeness with a special interest in serving young adults, women and family systems, helping individuals find purpose, direction and peace.

Victoria Corona, MS, LPCA, NCC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Family and Child Development and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro as well.

She has clinical experience working with individuals of all ages, from early childhood to later adulthood in the areas of sexual and physical violence/abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, career counseling, sexuality counseling, grief/loss counseling, behavioral concerns, spirituality and Faith, relationship concerns, LGBTQ+ concerns, couple counseling, self-harm and thoughts of hurting one’s self, and anger management. Victoria strives to honor all backgrounds, values, and identities and to provide a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental space for her clients. She enjoys empowering her clients and tends to work from Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral orientations while striving to personalize the counseling experience to each individual’s needs. She is passionate about promoting healing, self-acceptance, and wholeness and helping each client find peace within themselves and their lives.

Marie McHone, Receptionist retired from the medical field and recently joined the KCC team to help support the clinical staff and greet clients. Marie enjoys spending time with her family and spoiling her yorkie, Marley.

Amber Moore, MA, LCAS is committed to helping individuals who are seeking freedom from addiction or self- destructive behavior. She offers a partnership as you work towards your goals of healing, emotional growth, and gaining personal insight. Over the last 13 years, she has worked in outpatient treatment, correctional settings, and private practice with a variety of addiction issues. For those just getting started, together you will explore what level of care is needed. For those who have already begun the journey of recovery, you'll explore together how to sustain the progress you've already made.

Laura Brotherton, MA, LPC, NCC, RPT is the founder of Kernersville Counseling Center. She graduated with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is trained in play therapy through the Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte. Laura is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and she has specialized training, experience and supervision in play therapy. Laura is also trained in EMDR and TF-CBT. Laura enjoys working with individuals on a wide array of mental health concerns and works with clients of all ages to improve social, emotional, and behavioral issues. She has a special interest in helping children and families create or restore peace within their homes by training parents on positive parenting solutions and by providing play therapy for the children. Laura considers it a privilege to work with families on such personal matters and strives to provide a supportive and judgment free atmosphere. Laura is also considered a Qualified Supervisor by the NC Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and she provides supervision to associate level clinicians.

​Marielisa Montero, MS, LMFT graduated with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and has worked with couples, families and individuals from varying cultural and social economic backgrounds. Marielisa is devoted to helping her clients gain insight and awareness, to access their strengths and resources, and to guide them in becoming the best version of themselves. She believes that a collaborative relationship with the client is one of the most important factors in facilitating change. Marielisa has a special interest in working with couples; helping them manage their conflict, strengthen their friendship, deepen their love and restore their intimacy.

Kayla Langton, MS, NCC, LPCA graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University. She provides play therapy in a safe, nonjudgmental environment for children who are experiencing a variety of behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Kayla believes in the power of therapeutic play, and serves as an advocate in actively involving the parent(s) or guardian(s) in the therapy process. She utilizes a non-directive approach, and believes that all children have an innate drive to heal themselves. In addition, sandtray is a treatment modality that is often incorporated into many of Kayla’s therapy sessions. Her interests lie within helping children find their voice, and through play therapy techniques, she teaches children healthy ways to express their thoughts and emotions.
